Beautiful Moments 9-30-11

Hailey having breakfast in bed. She didn't want to get up but was hungry. So I brought her a pancake and some ice cold juice. She says "really, I can eat in my bed?" I told her "of course, why not its Friday with no school".

Beautiful Moments 9-29-11

I guess I forgot about this day and can not remember one thing about it, well apart from the speech therapist telling the head that Hailey has reached all her goals and no long needs to attend her pre-school. W.H.A.T. I spoke to her the day before and she told me this, and I told her very clearly that I disagreed and I didn't feel that Hailey speaks on a four yr old level and she would continue to improve (if people stopped trying to kick her out of school and started f*ing teaching her!!!!!) if she stayed in school.

Anyway, that was a beautiful moment right?

Parent/Teacher Conference's

Taylor- I got a great report from Ms Reed about Taylor. She said how Taylor was coming out of her shell and interacting in class. She is on Level D reading now which is brilliant as when she first started she was a C, I'm very impressed with her. Spelling seems to be a strong point at the moment, she getting high test scores every week. Her money skills needs a little work as she is a little confused by it.

She was the first girl to win the First in Math "Player of the day" neckless and she was so happy. She worked hard for that and enjoyed every minute of wearing that award.

Overall she is doing really well and Ms Reed and I are very happy with her:-)

Masie- She is doing fabulous. Mrs Stanbrough is very impressed with her and compliments her on everything. She wrote some really sweet, lovely things about Masie. She needs to work a little more on her First in Math to pull her math grade up slightly.
She is a great peer model and is a friend to everyone. Guess what?? She was chosen as the TERRIFIC KID!!! She doesn't know yet so shh its a secret.

Great Parent/Teacher Conferences I'm proud of all my girls.

Book Review- Jane Eyre

Jane EyreJane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It only took me about 15 years to pick up this book but I got there in the end. I was meant to read it in school but never did, Im sorry that I didnt as it was a brilliant book, I was caught in the story from page one. Young Jane Eyre, neglected and pushed away her whole life was always so caring and sweet to others. She found love throughout her life from friends, discovered family members and a husband.

I enjoyed this book a lot and now I can say Ive finally read a classic!!

Beautiful Moments Blogged 9-28-11

I went to Hailey's parent/teacher conference and got some really good feed back. She is at a four year old level for most things but for picture recognition and story making she is at a 6yr old level. I'm so proud of my baby she is so smart, smarter than she lets on most of the time. She is no longer below average on anything academically. Truly a beautiful moment!!

Beautiful Moments 9-27-11

Actually not a beautiful moment but a funny moment. I took my gorgeous puppy to the groomers for the first time today to get a bath and get his undercoat taken care of. I walked in and the owner jumps back and says "that's a pit, I'm petrified of pits". I pull him back and say "he is Lab but yes he is cross with a pit" she is still on the back wall when she asked if he was friendly and I said yes of course, he is a big baby and I would be more scared of Rex than Pablo. She had to call her colleague to take him and she was lovely and handled him like she should have. I just found it amusing how she handled that situation being an owner/groomer.

Peach Jam Made By Me

I was so excited to get started with my jam making, It took a very long time but it was so fun and so worth it. I don't think you realise how much sugar is in jam until you pour it in yourself, wow. But this much fruit has to make it some what healthy, right?

Jar's and jars of gorgeous yummy peach jam!!

Oh, and just because I'm fabulous I decided to make banana bread too, I'm posting it to show Kristi how brilliant the pampered chef mini loaf pan is:-)

Beautiful Moments 9-26-11

I went out to try and get a good picture of Welly's cave which I could not do (Picture 1) seriously its so cool, it goes really deep and its a little room, I found them both in there today. Anyway, I was in their cage taking pictures and Welly heard me. He turned around and came out of his cave to see me, he walked right up to me if he could smile he would have. If he could talk he would have said "ello there mate" lol, not sure what I am on tonight, lol.

I Am So Proud

I'm really enjoying being with my little group of children during the day, I call out "who is in my Pre-K class?" Mason and Hailey run up proudly and get in line to go to "class". Then I say "who is in my pre-school class?" and they say "Levi and Estella are the babies, were are the big kids". They have both come so far, just look at their lovely writing.

Welly swimming with Mason and Hailey

This is that video I was talking about a long while ago, so funny!!

Beautiful Moments 9-25-11

Kind of a spare of the moment thing but I decided to take Masie to the mall to pick out her Halloween costume (the other two already have theirs). I popped around Sonya's house to hand her some home made jam and Banana bread and asked if she wanted to come. So her and Faith came and Taylor and Hailey ended up staying with their friends, it was .l.o.v.e.l.y we walked the mall, chatted and Masie and Faith got to hang out!!

Beautiful Moments 9-23-11

It was beautiful when I woke up this morning and it was F.R.I.D.A.Y!! Just hoping Monday doesn't come too quickly. I haven't really had any beautiful moments, not that I have had a particularly bad day but nothing really stands out as wonderful. Welly made me laugh when I saw that he had dug out a really cool cave, it was deep and wide and looked all cozy. I took pictures of my lovely Areo Garden, this is my lettuce after just over a week.

Level One Completed

So proud of Masie and Taylor, they have done amazing in their swimming lessons I cant believe how far they have come. Yesterday was the last day of level one and they were playing around and jumping off the diving board. They all (apart from Masie) had life jackets on. After a few jumps the instructor ask if anyone wanted to take theirs off, most off them did, including Taylor!! This was her second jump as I videoed the first one, there is no stopping her now. The instructor said Taylor will find level two a challenge lets hope she is wrong.

Faith would not jump from the diving board, she was very scared and was jumping off the side. After a lot of encouragement from her Mum, Me and her friends she was brave and did it!! This was her before shot, I told her that she would make my camera wonky if I didn't have an after shot so she had to jump.

After shot! A very happy and proud little girl, well done Faith.

Check out the video below, its way to cute!!

Taylor's First Jump WITHOUT a Life Jacket

I am so unbelievable proud of Taylor for doing this. Listen closely for Masie in the background encouraging her little sister. She is back to sweet lovely Masie. Post to follow later tonight.

Beautiful Moments 9-21-11

ZERO Beautiful Moments today, a bad day for me. Tomorrow WILL be better, I'm taking control over my life and emotions!!!

Actually there was a moment this evening, Taylor took off her life jacket and JUMPED off the diving board!! She was SO happy and proud, as was I. They graduated level one swimming today.

Beautiful Moments

Watching Masie and Taylor jumping off the diving board in their swimming lesson, it was a first for Taylor and she was nervous. The first time the instructor caught her, second time she jumped off and the third time she RAN and jumped into the air. It was so fun watching them, I really LOVE being a Mummy.

Beautiful Moment 9-18-11

I thought I was going to blog about my afternoon sat in my lovely living room reading my Kindle while eating Chex Mix and drinking a Margarita. It was absolutely delightful, but then in the evening it was almost time for the kids to come in when we heard the ice-cream truck, all the neighbour kids went wild and ran in their houses for a dollar. I watched as they all surrounded the truck and ordered their ice Lolly's, happiness was in the air (strangely enough, this is the first time this summer we have seen the ice-cream truck). Then I look back out of the window and our 2 little neighbour kids have the saddest face and no ice-cream. I go outside and immediately the little one said "I didn't get one, mommy doesn't have a dollar". My heart broke (mainly because the parent drink/smoke constantly but they cant afford $2 for their children) Before I knew it Chris was behind me with his last two strawberry ice-Lolly's and gave them to the girls. Their faces lit up, it was such a sweet moment. (look at their faces, yellow and orange shirts on the left).

Beautiful Moments 9-17-11

We had a few beautiful moments, one that I'm not sure is beautiful but it sure was funny. The girls and I went to Wal-mart and found Taylor and Hailey the perfect Halloween costume (there wasn't anything scary enough for Masie). We saw the dog costumes, which are forbidden in our house as Chris has banned them with no exceptions!! BUT we don't care what Chris thinks and Pablo is a bumble Bee and Rex is a Lady bug. Pictures at some point! We dressed them and laughed and laughed. Chris was NOT impressed but did smile at us having the best time. Pablo loves his and Rex got so mad and tried to bite me.

In the evening I sat with Taylor while she read the first chapter of a Junie B Jones book. This is her first Chapter book and she was so proud of herself. We were snuggled on the rocking chair, it was lovely.

We Found Shapes

Our finished project!! It looks fabulous up on the wall. Good job to my Pre Kindergarten class!!!

Beautiful Moments

Today I made a huge decision, its a big step and an end of a long but great Chapter in my life. Not sure how it is all going to work out yet, but my mind is set. It was like a light bulb went off in my head and I said "this is what I have to do". I cant share details yet as I need to speak to a few people first but lets just say I'm nervous, excited and a little sad.

Got Cash?

Its not uncommon to find Mason with a couple of bucks in his pocket, but this was not a normal day. We were in Hailey's class when Mason turned to me and said "I have a dollar" and I replied "No you don't" and he whips out his money, what I first saw made mine and the teachers mouth drop, and 50 dollar bill, then another followed by 4 twenty's!!!! I asked him where he got it and he said from his Moms pocket, I told him this was stealing and I was angry at him. He replied "I only wanted an Ice-cream." I get in the car and call his Mom and she thinks its hilarious and can not believe he did it, as she found the funny side so did I (after my initial shock of course). We came home and posed for pictures.

Beautiful Moments 9-15-11

Masie came home today and she was so excited!! She ran to me and grabbed a piece of paper and said "I'm in, I'm in" she got into the poetry club. All that hard work paid off! She is such a smart little girl.

On a separate note, she is reading my kindle like crazy, like read a whole chapter book in three days crazy (and reviewing it in detail to me). She is desperately trying to prove that a Kindle is the perfect gift for her, still not completely sold but closer than I was.

Feeding "Bdella"

My kids adore baby Estella, and I mean A,D,O,R,E her. Hailey is home with her all day so she has really bonded with her, this is the first time I have let her feed her and she was in heaven. She calls her Bdella and me and her Mom think its the cutest thing ever.

Beautiful Moments 9-14-11

Its was a lovely cool day today with a nice breeze I don't think it got much higher than 70 degrees, Masie even ran back for a jacket, lol. The kids played outside most of the morning in the sand and on bikes and just enjoyed not being burnt if they fell down. But my beautiful moment was this evening when we were having a storm. Chris and I went out back and watched the rain together, it was sweet.

Beautiful Moments 9-13-11

Tuesday was MUCH better than Monday, thank god!
I had a few beautiful moments today but I choose Mason and Hailey. We had to walk to the school (Taylor had a huge fit over a spoon, long story) anyway as I had to pack up everyone for a walk anyway I decided to give them an assignment. I first gave Hailey my camera and then Mason took over half way around. Their assignment was to look hard and find shapes, they had so much fun taking pictures and the things they were finding amazed me. We are going to print them all out and make a collage. They worked together so well, they are getting so grown up and turning into very smart little people.

Beautiful Moments 9-12-11

This is a hard one... um you choose

  • I put a load of towels in the washer and it starts leaking

  • I put the washer on spin to empty it and the kitchen sink fills up and empties on my floor

  • Had to call Chris back from work when he had an inspection because the house was under water

  • Called out the plumber and is now $200 poorer (although, he could of charge a lot more)

  • Realized my plumbing wasn't wrong and it should have never drained in my sink

  • Black stinky water covered my kitchen, laundry room and dinning room and I had to clean it

  • Finally sit down, thinking this should be my "beautiful moment" I'm sat with my best friend watching the kids in the pool with a caramel Frappe and magazines, then the wind picks up and it starts to rain

  • Couldnt get to my kitchen all day so Chris brought home Taco Bell and now I feel sick and fat

At bedtime we finished our book "James and the giant peach" and we had a good laugh discussing the book and braiding hair, that is my beautiful moment!

PLEASE TUESDAY BE BETTER THAN MONDAY

Book Review- James and the Giant Peach

James and the Giant PeachJames and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

GREAT book, I read it to my girls and they couldnt get enough, the story was exciting and kept us in suspence at the end of each chapter. About 4 chapters left to read and I ask each of the girls how they think the story will end, first

Me- The peach gets turned into a giant smoothie

Masie- Everybody eats the peach

Taylor- something happens to it and only a little bit is left

Hailey- A whale comes and takes one bite.

One of us got it right, I wont say which one in case you havent read it, but I will say it wasnt Hailey, lol.

Beautiful Moments- September 11th

Today was a rough day, the kids are learning about what happened 10 years ago today at school. It was recommended by Masies teacher that she watch the documentary of 9-11, we tuned in and it was awful. Within the first few seconds we all had tears in our eyes and within minutes Masie and Taylor were sitting with tears streaming while they watched the terror and distress in New York as planes hit, fire blazing, people screaming and bodies jumping from buildings. After a few more minutes Masie asked me if we could turn it off, and then she cried the saddest cry.

So there is no beautiful moment today just respect for everyone that was affected by September 11th 2001.

Beautiful Moments- 9-10-11

A little late but today's Beautiful Moment was in Olive Garden, Las Cruces. I have never eaten there before and it was unbelievably delicious. It makes a huge difference when the waitress is kind and patient, she was wonderful and got a nice tip. We started off with warm bread sticks and salad, and then our main meals came. I was so happy to be able to have something that I don't normally have, because of my allergies my choices are limited dramatically wherever I go. This was chicken breasts in an apricot sauce with steamed veggies, my mouth is watering right now thinking of it.

10 Years Ago Today

  • 4 planes hit our country, two being the world trade center in New York City.

  • 10 years ago today our whole world as we knew it changed forever.

  • 10 years ago today Thousands of innocent people lost their lives.

  • 10 years ago today families were rip apart.

  • 10 years ago today service men and women died for their country

Today we remember those who are no longer with us due to Terrorism

September 11Th will never just be a normal day

Masie had a project to do this weekend, it was hard for her at first. She did not want to do it, look at pictures or even talk about it. The whole event to her like everyone else is distressing to think about. Its part of our history now unfortunately and she needed to understand it. After a while she got into the project and researched her paper. She did a great job and was proud of her work. Today we will be watching the documentary on the event, Taylor also had to discuss it so we will be talking to her too.

Book Review- The Help

The HelpThe Help by Kathryn Stockett

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I wish I could give this book more than a five, everyone should read this book!! It is so sad what used to happen between White people and Black people. Awful, sad and just plain wrong. Im glad things finally worked out but these things actually happened and people lived through these situations. It took one brave person to open everyones eyes, I felt right there in the book. I love books that pull me in like that.

Fantastic Book!

Beautiful Moments

OK so I don't have a beautiful moment today, nothing jumps out at me at all, pretty sad really but whatever, life is not always a bunch of Roses.

I decided to pick the moment when I put the kids in the living room with a movie and Chris was studying and I took my kindle into the bath (very carefully).
I was reading my book "The Help" this is a great book and although I don't get much free time, when I do I read it. It will be reviewed soon as I'm at 90%. Anyway I closed the doors had my hot water and relaxed...........................Then Hailey came in and bugged me and bugged me "Mummy can I get in? Can I get my shirt wet? Mummy, Mummy? Taylor wont give me a glue stick? Can I pee in my pull up? Etc Etc!!

Oh, what, that's not a beautiful moment? oops, welcome to my life, lol.

Beautiful Moments 9-8-11

It was a beautiful moment this afternoon when Hailey rode the bus home from school for the very first time. Everyone was out front waiting for her including some of the neighbour kids. They waved and cheered and shouted "Hailey Hailey". She got off the bus a little shy and after acting a little weird by shutting herself in her room for a few minutes she said "I LOVED IT!" As the bus comes roughly the same time the older ones are out they are now allowed to walk by themselves in a group. They said "can we do that again, it was so much fun". They took responsibly, made sure they had everyone in their group and sensibly walked home!!
