My Hero

For testing the girls had to fill out a form, this time it was on perseverance. They had to write three things for school, home and Taekwondo that they found hard but worked through it. On the top of the form they had to pick a hero, somebody that showed a lot of perseverance in their life. Masie chose her Daddy, she said "he is working so hard to test for his job even though he doesn't want too". Taylor chose her cousin Maddie, I looked at her a little strange but looked forward to her reason. "Maddie learnt to walk, she kept falling down but she got back up and tried again". Cant argue with that, so on her form her 17 month old cousin is her hero, isn't that so special!?

Book Review- A Dog Named Slugger

A Dog Named SluggerA Dog Named Slugger by Leigh Brill My rating: 4 of 5 stars This was such a lovely story, it was written from the heart. I actually cried at the end, not just sad, tears and everything. It was so sad, goodbyes are always hard but reading this goodbye ached my own heart. But that was just the end, the book its self was full of wonderful tales and stories. It was fun to read and made me smile often. View all my reviews

Hailey and Mummy

A really short clip, it was a rare time when Hailey and I had time with just us!! She wanted to jump on the trampoline but she wanted to do it on my shoulders, crazy girl. It was so much fun. I love being home with my babies!!

Spring Break List, Complete

With only a day to spare we completed the list for spring break, Saturday we took a trip down to Ruidoso and had a great time. Almost a no go though, we went to the little lake with the boats and got out of the car and was nearly blown away by ice cold wind. In our shorts and T-shirts we tried to brave it, but it was just too cold. So we took a picture of the beautiful water and got our disappointed girls in the car. As it was only just up the road we thought we would see if the pony's were at the creek, we were excited to find they were, even more excited that the mountains either side were blocking the wind and it was lovely and warm. Taylor took this picture of Chris and I.
We got our (very expensive) tickets and got in line. They each choose their favourite horse, Hailey smiled the whole way round. This was her first time riding alone, such a big girl.
Taylor was loving it, the guy stayed close by just in case she needed help but Taylor can do most things with a broken arm, and now she can ride a horse with one.
Masie always loves the horses, I just wish there was a place around here that did lessons for her.
We went down to the creek, I had no intentions whatsoever about getting in that freezing water, the girls didn't hesitate.
Look a feet picture!! On my blog!! Taylor's little feet looked so cute I had to take a shot. So I was standing on the rock above the water when all of a sudden three crazy kids came towards me. Knowing my girls I tried to run, but I was too late and they were splashing me with the ice cold water.

I might look mad but I was just playing with them.
A fabulous end to our Spring Break week together.

Book Review- Remember Me?

Remember Me?Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One of the best books I have read so far. It was so easy to read, I related her (Lexi) instantly and I like that. I laughed out loud more than a few times, it was very funny. A great story and a brilliant ending. It is an English book and made me smile to hear 'my words' throughout the book.

Thanks Maxine for a great book.

Day 4

We got up this morning and after breakfast we headed off to the mountains with our friends Sonya, Faith, Ian and Connor. It was a lovely day, sun was shining, kids were playing and Sonya and I were chatting. I'm crossing 2 things off the list as this was defiantly hiking too, those kids were all over the place. I had to call Taylor back a few times and remind her she had a broken arm! Cute little Monkey that likes to give me a heart attack. I'm working tomorrow so there will not be a day 5 post, well unless something really exciting happens or I brave something off the list with 6 kids, who knows.

A Little Bit Of Hailey

Here is a little clip of Hailey in soccer practice. She is just too cute, its Spring break so a few of her team mates are away, which was perfect for Hailey so she had a little bit of a chance at getting the ball. Its hard for her to understand you pass to everyone BUT the goalie.

Day 3

Day 3 was the best!! We had so much fun, we went to the coffee shop in Hastings and then popped to Lowes for some stuff for my home made BBQ Brisket, which was Delicious even if I do say so myself. We whacked the music up in the car and were dancing and singing.
We got a few things checked off 'The List', first we met up with our friends Andrea, Matthew and Luke and fed the ducks at the Zoo. Second we went to the park.
We had a lovely picnic.
Climbed a big tree.
Last we roasted the biggest marshmallows ever.
At the end of the evening I was watering the front and "accidentally" got the kids soaked with the hose. They were laughing so hard and Masie shouts out "I have the BEST Mum EVER". How cool is that to end a perfect day. Now I'm done, don't want to see a child for at least 12 hours, (they are not in bed yet so I will have to close my eyes when doing so).

Day 2

Today was a good day, we had a chilled out morning. The kids played and I cleaned, a much needed cleaning of the kids bedrooms. Before lunch we did a group reading session, everybody chose a book and read it to the group, everyone was patient and allowed each other to have their turn. I put a lovely huge pink flower in the picture so you couldn't see the dust! I live in New Mexico people so fighting dust is like keeping boiling water in a chocolate teapot, impossible. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it). We had some lunch and then went to Lowes to choose our flowers for planting, Taylor's- Pink, Masie- Orange, Hailey- Yellow. We had a great time out front and they did a brilliant job. Don't be fooled by the coats, we think windy is cold.
Isn't it beautiful!?I took the 2 older girls to Taekwondo, they are doing so well. You need 4 stripes on your belt to be ready to test, Masie has three now, Taylor had some catching up to do and today earned her 2nd stripe in front of the whole group. I was super proud of her, they are both doing so well. I did have to stop Taylor the other day when I caught her doing push ups, is there anything that girl wont do. She walks with casts on both legs and now shes doing push ups with a cast bending her arm!!!
Straight after that I came home for Hailey, she had soccer practice and was proud to tell everyone that she scored TWO goals. She did so great!!!

I wonder what day 3 will bring.........

Day 1

We had a great first day, I will say having my own kids home all day is a lot harder than having daycare kids. I did really enjoy it though, its not often I get them all to myself. We have 2 things checked off our list, we are on to a good start. we started off in the library, my girls LOVE the library, I couldn't think of a worse place myself but hey, its not my list. They each chose 2 books and then we made a quick stop at Sonic. A large sweet peach tea, oh yeah that hit the spot on this lovely warm day. The girls each chose a Jr sundae and we went home. In the afternoon we went to the movies to see Rango, pretty funny. Not the best movie but I would watch it again for sure. Maybe its because I had Hailey saying "can I touch your eye" (while pushing her finger into my eye) and "I cold, get me a blanket" all the way through the movie.
I did a bad thing but I am proud of myself, I took my own drinks and sweets into the theater this time and it saved me a fortune. If they didn't over charge dramatically I wouldn't bother and just buy there but its totally ridiculous. A bag of popcorn cost me $5, crazy.
We finished off the night with dinner and then Taekwando. What will tomorrow bring??

Book Review- Shadow Fever

Shadowfever (Fever, #5)Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a fabulous book!! It ended just right, so many surprises. I didnt see any of it coming, it kept me wanting more the whole way through. Im so glad Mac and Barron's ended how it did, I would have been mad otherwise. OMG V'lane, he was my love and ended up being the devil!! How could I have been so wrong, how could he do all those horrible things and been seen as the good guy? Great series! I would read this one again, im sure ive missed a lot of detail.

Butterfly's

After failing several times over the past year to raise ladybugs we were given free caterpillars. We watched them grow from tiny little things to huge caterpillars in a matter of days. After a little over a week all four were in their cocoons. We waited patiently for another week for them to come out as beautiful butterfly's.

Favourite Photo Number One Favourite Photo Number Two
After we loved them and studied them, we released them.
Butterfly names:
Masie's- Tulip
Taylor's- Lilly
Hailey's- Daisy
Kerry's- Dandelion

Update on Taylor's arm

Taylor had her cast put on yesterday down in El Paso, she was awesome. After having to get her arm X rayed twice and the second time was without her splint they casted her. She did so great they moved her arm so much, she yelled out just once during the second X ray when she was clearly in pain the whole time. What a great color she chose. She has to go back in three weeks for the cast to come off and re X rayed, they will then see if she needs to be re casted.
Everyone wanted to sign her cast, Mrs Tade had the honors of being first in her class.

Masie is so lucky that someone invented magic erasers, Taylor had just come home and Masie took her into the bedroom and decorated the whole E.N.T.I.R.E cast. I was SO mad at her, she was sent to her room while we figured out how to remove it so her friends could sign it. She was extremely lucky!
