After nearly 8 years of being here we have been trying to get to Whites Sands to watch the annual balloon festival, we have always gone to the park to watch it but wanted the experience at the White Sands.
Living on base made it a lot easier as its a 15 minutes drive, plus we don't have babies anymore. We got up early and sat in an almost hour line to get into the Monument.
Lovely morning, a bit chilly but beautiful.
We waited
And waited......
A few balloons went up, and then back down.
Then they all went home:(
It didn't feel like it on the ground but the windy was too strong for them to fly, it was very sad. We have seen it many times but never there, it just wasn't meant to be I guess.
