Halloween Treats

We had the most fun this morning, as the kids had no school I needed to think of a way to entertain all those kids. We found these cool recipes:

Eye Balls

1. Vanilla pudding (the kind you make yourself) put in the bottom half of plastic Easter eggs and placed in freezer


2. Once they are ready, take away the plastic egg and put one lifesaver on top with a jelly bean in the middle


3. Place back in freezer for 10 minutes so the candy sticks to the pudding Swamp Juice

• 1 can of frozen Lemonade, partly thawed


• 1 can of limeade, partly thawed


• 1 bottle of sprite


• A few Scoops of sherbet Ice-cream

We finished up our Halloween wall, looks pretty good I think.

Saturday night we went to a Halloween party and adults were encouraged to dress up too. It was fun dressing up, although I don't remember the rolls being sewn into my dress before I put it on.

Trick or Treating with friends tonight and then goodbye October and Hello November!!!

Trunk or Treat

Our friends invited us to a Trunk or Treat at their church. It was really fun for the kids, plus they got to dress up in these ever so gorgeous outfits that Nanny and Grandad bought them on their holiday. They looked stunning and was complimented many times. Thank you Mum and Dad!!

Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton has start an imaginary library for the kids of Otero county. There is no catch whatsoever and is fabulous! You sign your child up and every month until they are five they receive a book in the mail. The first month just came and its Dolly Partons favourite book as a child "The Little Train That Could". We all gathered round to read it, including Rexy Roo Roo. Check out my gorgeous peach and nectarine pie made with my brand new stoneware pie dish. Yummy Yum Yum.

Book Review- One Day

One Day by David Nicholls

Please do not read this if you plan on reading the book, this review will ruin it for you and its only my opinion. With that said:



I am PISSED!! I am so mad at this book! First it took me 60% (kindle) to actually get into the book and want to keep reading it. Its about two people that meet and have a great time together and end up being friends for 20+ years. But Dexter is a complete twat and sleeps with every girl he comes accross and is not very nice to Emma most of the time but they secretly both love each other. Then he gets married and has a child and screws that up. Emma is a lovely young lady, was a teacher and then lives in Paris and is a well known author and he comes to stay with her as friends and they finally get together, he has changed and absolutely loves her and she has always deep down wanted this so she was extremely happy. They are happy for years and try for a baby, they arrange to meet at a house they intend to buy and then..... They kill her off!!! What!! You kill off the only decent charater in the book!! And then he is left to mourn for the next 10% of the book. Very Disappointed!!

How I love you little Miss Hailey. Today I dressed you in the most adorable outfit, you were so sweet and sat with your legs crossed like a lovely little princess. Then you came home from school with a pirate costume and had huge muscles.

Another classic read!! I didnt think it was the best book, I was a little bored through a huge part of it. I tried to read it once before but gave gave up but this time I WAS going to get through it. It wasnt my cup of tea!!

What Happens When Daddy Puts the Kids to Bed?

Its Wednesday!!!!! Right????

Today has been Wednesday for me right up until 12.32 this afternoon, the kids have after school clubs on Wednesday so I made a huge point of reminding them this morning and telling Faith and Nicki that they will be coming home together. Sonya was there so I part blame her as she didn't catch my mistake. My daycare parent picks up Peyton who finishes at 11.30 but she was a little late and I say "don't worry its Wednesday Hailey has no school" and she didn't catch my mistake so I partly blame her too. I carry on the morning as a Wednesday and call my Mum at 11.45 which is the normal time I would be taking Hailey to school (on any other day) and she didn't catch my mistake so I partly blame her too. Then I go on the web cam with her around 12.30 and I ask if she wants to see Hailey, she replies "why is Hailey there?" "its Wednesday mother, she doesn't go on Wednesday" that's when she breaks the news to me that it was infact Tuesday and I rush to the phone to explain to the school that I'm completely nuts!!! I feel so discombobulated right now, It wont feel right until next week when I can start over. To sum up I am only 1/4 to blame for this craziness of a day.

On to my post when Hailey went to school yesterday (Monday). She asked her teacher on Friday if she could bring her bunny in to show the class, as always her teacher is wonderful and said yes. So here is Hailey and Mango at North Pre school. She was unbelievably happy and proud to show her bunny. Here is Rya.

And Pablo (yes it took her a while to get used to the fact that her friend has the same name as her dog)

On further news, I get a call from the head of the school today and get asked if they can test Hailey for speech, I think I said before that they think Hailey has reached all her speech goals (which I disagree with) and they want to release her from the program. As advised that it will be worse if I do not allow her to be tested I agreed and we just have to wait and see what the results are. The plus side is that its somebody Hailey doesn't know that comes and tests her, and I may have accidentally reinforced the fact that STRANGERS AND DANGEROUS and you must not speak to strangers, WHAT, its true!!

Not that I don't agree that Hailey has come so far with her speech, she has but I don't think she is there yet. I still cant understand a lot she says and I still have to translate to other people what she is saying. I will advocate for my child to get the care she needs End.Of.Story.

Thirty Five Taylor's!!!!

Taylor is the worst child ever in the morning. She is slow, messes around, doesn't listen and annoys her sisters. I say her name so many times I decided to write down every time I said her name between 6.50am and 7.45am. Just some of the things that happen EVERY day is:

PreK Drawings

I love my preK group, I'm so proud of their progress. The first one is Hailey's (I'm wondering if she likes the color green?) Mason is amazing!!!

Haileys first homework preK

Hailey's speech therapist started giving homework this past week. Hailey was NOT pleased. This 4 minute clip is to show you how she is progressing with her speech and how much she hates homework!! I'm not looking forward to the years to come with her homework:-)

Leaf Printing

Grandma gave us some really cool books to take home with us in the summer, they have some great craft ideas. Here is one we tried out. We got leaves from different trees and then printed around them.

A Plus to Living in the desert

The girls and the neighbours caught this cute little Gecko today, they named him Movie.

New Glasses and a Cousin

Masie got new glasses, they wanted to try a Bi-focal again as her eye still keeps crossing when she is reading. She is adapting very well as she always does. Doesn't she look adorable?? My Niece Jaylean got glasses this week too and she looks so pretty in them. I stole this picture to show you, Masie looked at it and said "they are my glasses" and sure enough if you look they are the same, you cant see the purple in Masie's much from that picture but its there.

Corn Maze

We went earlier in the month this year and there was hardly anyone there. It was lovely, the kids had much more freedom. The lady who did the face painting was so sweet and did a great job.Hailey took this picture of Chris and I.The corn maze itself was hot and the kids (and me) were just trying to get out.They even got to mine for jewels, usually the line for this is ridiculous.There was no horse and carriage this time so we had to take the hayride, it was actually pretty fun, we love the pumpkin patch.
